I have always loved giving thoughtful gifts, birthday or whenever. Some people are more challenging to shop for than others, so periodically, I try to add my two cents of a gift guide here on my blog. And since my birthday is this week, perfect timing for a gift guide on the perfect birthday gift. Birthdays are a big deal to me. Another year of life is the ultimate cause for celebration, especially these days.
I look forward to brunch with one of my favorite girlfriends at a chic spot I’ve wanted to try later this week. Every year we take each other out for our birthdays to wherever the birthday girl wants to go. For her milestone birthday this year, she took a trip to the Bahamas, so I scrolled through her IG pics for clues of a favorite designer so I could be on brand for a pair of sunglasses I wanted to gift her for her trip. Because this same girlfriend, one year, as a random gift, bought me a beautiful set of wine glasses and a decanter from Crate and Barrel. The gift I did not know I needed—elevated my table setting to stunning. And one year, for my birthday, she bought me a Chanel scent that has become one of my absolute favorites.
The moral of the story is to be like my favorite girlfriend and try to anticipate what your person wants or did not know they needed. Think about the thing, no matter how big or small, that would let them know that you see them, hear them, and love them. Those types of gifts are the perfect gifts.
