Let me start this post by saying yesterday Cardi B retweeted my pics with a quote—“I f&#*%n loveee….I be so happy when I see this”. So (in my Lizzo voice) now me and Cardi, we cool, yeah. Actually, in my head, we’ve been cool. In 2018, I captioned one of my IG-style posts with a knock-off stanza of “I Like It.” I can’t remember how long it took me to write it.’…Now I like peplum; I like plaid, I like stunning, I like styling. I like walking like I’m Tyra, where’s my smize, boy, I’m smiling. I like white Manolo Blahniks, the ones with 4-inch props. I like going to the Quad, so I can take some shots.’ (That last line was in reference to the pic being shot of me walking through the Law Quad at UofM).
I bought her red patent leather Cardi Coated Club C Reeboks back when they dropped last year. I wanted the hot pink ones, but those had sold out. The quality, aesthetic, and even the shoe box were beautiful. So basically, I’m like maybe an honorary member of the Bardigang.
When I saw the latest collection, at first glance, I wanted it all. I had even thought to set a reminder in my calendar to make sure to wake up on that Friday morning and add to cart. I forgot to set the reminder but still secured four very lovely pieces later that day, the corset hoodie, the woven satin jacket, jogging pants, and matching leather shoes, all in hunter green. The last time I was this in love with collab athleisure was when I wore my Reebok X Pyer Moss ensemble. There was equally absolutely nothing disappointing about this purchase—beautiful quality and fit for reasonable coinage. Cardi did that.
Because I was so obsessed with this jogging suit, I, of course, wanted to take pics of me wearing it. I thought about Cardi dancing in her UP video surrounded by pink graffitied walls and figured, what better way to show my love to her than to snap some pics in the graffitied alley not too far from my house. And maybe I should have thrown on some pink Beats headphones to elevate the concept.
Anyway, Cardi, I loveee this whole collection. Thank you for the retweet; it made my entire life yesterday. Congrats on the new addition, my love to your growing family!
