I have always had a subtle obsession with pristine white walls. In fact, I have never used any color for interior paint of our current home or our previous condo. I have had many people suggest “accent walls” or a “splash of color” but I’m always like meh, white is fine. Off white walls with pure white trim is my staple. I like the open, bright, and clean feeling. Plus it doesn’t lock me down with how creative I can get with my furniture or décor. Not that I change décor so frequently, but the idea that I can if I want to is satisfying. Before Ash came along I would do wall touch ups to keep our walls looking fresh. Over time, “wall touch ups” dropped on my priority list (especially after pregnancy). At last, it had been approximately 7 years since our walls had a good beat! So in my eyes we were more than past due.
Right before we had our house repainted, I came across an article on Business Insider. The CEO of Restoration Hardware, Gary Friedman, had sold his “catalog like” home for $7.5 million. The part of the article that stuck out to me the MOST was Friedman on the monotony of the floors and walls. “There’s one color of paint throughout the whole house; there’s one color of floor finish throughout the whole house.” You can read the entire article here. Yes! My interior design sense for palette simplicity was validated!
We hired A2 painting company in Ann Arbor based off of great reviews. (Side note: for easy maintenance we opted for washable paint this time!) A2 did an impeccable job and our walls are back in top shape. There are no twists. Just simple, beautiful white walls. The only splash of color is me! 🙂
