Last year was all about new chapters. I had a new baby, a new job, it was all exciting and my gratitude for the beauty of it all was overwhelming. This year was all about insight and learning how to manage it all. All as in being a functional, thriving, working mom, wife, and nurse practitioner, the trinity of me. In the midst of all that, there was the intrinsic need to be creative, and so bloomed some new ideas. Some of which I finally could find time to oblige.
Ash had all of his “firsts.” First airplane ride, first foods, first birthday, first steps, first time at the Big House for his first football game, first snow day… Ultimately Brian and I fell in love with being his parents and witnessing all of this.
Home improvement was at an all time high this year. A new paint job, re-upholstery and lighting projects, and building a pantry for more storage… check, check, check. HGTV mode was in full effect and I feel blessed to have been able to mostly complete our “to do” list.
We didn’t take any elaborate family vacations. We had plenty of beautiful family moments right here at home. And let me not forget to mention my birthday shenanigans. I had crazy fun at a Bruno Mars concert and the perfect backyard barbecue with family and friends.
I unexpectedly received a clinical award nomination at work during APRN (advanced practice registered nurse) week. It was a great reminder to keep working hard and be great because you never know who is watching. I didn’t win the ultimate award but the nomination was beautiful and enough.
And then there is MeMe She! This was my icing on the cake of 2017. I wanted to introduce my blog in August but it didn’t work out for me how I thought it would. That’s ok, I would rather have things unfold in God’s timing anyway. It’s better that way. Hey 2018!!!
What were some of your 2017 highlights?
