It’s that time of year, my favorite time of year. Christmas decorations, movies, and music reign! And it feels like being wrapped in the loveliest of blankets.
Today I am sharing my playlist—a list of twenty-five Christmas songs in my favorite renditions.
You might ask why ‘Silent Night’ made the list three times. There is a brief back story. Out of all of the Christmas songs, Silent Night was always my least favorite. I felt like it was the Christmas song we could very well do without during the season. But three versions changed my mind. And they are the only valid renditions of Silent Night in my book. The Temptations and Mariah Carey transformed Silent Night (if we are honest, the Temptations and Mariah Carey have the best Christmas Albums in history which is why they are on the list multiple times). Kirk Franklin’s version of Silent Night comes in last place but should no less be on the list.
The list is in no particular order except that I did start it with The Temptations, ‘Give Love at Christmas,’ purposefully because if Christmas were a song, this would be it. The intro instantly pulls my heart into this beautiful place of childhood nostalgia for Christmas and then wraps it nicely with everything I love about the season.
On the list are a few new songs I love from Samara Joy and Deitrick Haddon.
So, have yourself a merry little Christmas. Let your heart be light. Xo
P.S. What renditions would you add to the list? I would love to expand my list!
