This mirror was love at first site. It is my absolute favorite piece of furniture. Before this mirror graced our dining room, our wall was (in my opinion) oversimplified with a basic black framed circle mirror. I wanted more drama! Cue antique inspired mirror from Arhaus! When I first saw this mirror it came in a much larger size. I wanted it even then (thinking the bigger the better, more drama). Brian was my dream snatcher slash voice of reason. He (partially) convinced me that it was too big for our small dining room. Arhaus must have sensed my crestfallen heartache. Several months later they came out with a smaller version of the mirror. As soon as they had a decor and lighting sale, this beauty came home to me!
More Wall Decor
When it comes to decorating our home, I get a lot of ideas from browsing furniture catalogs and strolling through furniture stores. It has been an ongoing project. Over the past few years I have focused mainly on my wall decor so that our home would look more complete. One of my first purchases (about 3 years ago) was a pair of abstract black and white paper art pieces from Ethan Allen. I loved that they were abstract because I wanted the room to have an artsy feel. Ethan Allen has these prints in several different colors and they can be hung vertically or horizontally. You can also just use a single print if that’s what your space calls for. Having the two portraits worked perfect for me and it also made the room look bigger. I still love these pieces! Here are some pics:
BTW, Ethan Allen still sells them (check them out here)!
When it came time to find wall decor for my bedroom I really wanted something that gave off baroque vibes. I found these great wall carvings at Restoration Hardware a couple of years ago. These particular pieces are no longer available but they have still have a few ornate wood pieces online. I think I may have gotten stuck in a design rut. I was so in love with my double pictures in our living room, I duplicated the same concept in our bedroom. Oh well! Here are some pics for you:
Our office is the most recent wall space that has been decorated. It’s another Arhaus find! It’s simple and calming so I hung it in our office. Here are some pics:
I’m still working on wall decor around the house. As I said, it’s an ongoing process. I’ll keep you updated!
What are some of your design tips?
I would love to hear some of your suggestions!
