This is my final ‘Have a Lovely Week’ post of the year. In a couple of days we will all be saying good morning to a new decade. I spent the weekend in that transition mood that occurs in the time between Christmas and the New Year, where you are slowly setting over the horizon of the holidays. Christmas still lingered. There were still pieces of torn wrapping paper and empty toy boxes and gift bags sitting off in a corner in my living room. The tree was still lit but with no anticipation. There was no more whimsically chugging countless holiday calories. ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’ and my ‘Motown Christmas’ music playlist came off of heavy rotation. Christmas euphoria gradually shifted to end of year reflection.
I hardly did any laundry or extra work trying to get things back “in order” this weekend. I just dawdled in the post-Christmas time zone with no specific plans and no energy to create any. Ash was particularly sweet and easy going which was wholly appreciated. We made it to church (late) on Sunday and then stopped by my parents’ house afterwards for steak, potatoes, and cabbage. My mom had also made Ash spaghetti and a sweet potato pie per his request the night before. Thank God for grandmas. Thank God for my mom.
My goal this week is probably the same as the masses, to release all of the heaviness and exhaustion of 2019 and gratefully welcome in all of the newness and fresh possibilities of 2020. As a part of my reflection, I thought I would share my top ten posts of the year!
Special thank you to Timothy Blanks, my photographer who I am saying farewell to (for now) this year. Thank you for capturing so many beautiful images this year. Thank you for your time, talent, and kindness. I wish you and your family the best. Safe travels to the UK and the happiest new year to you. I will miss you! See you in London for my next shoot! My big brother, DeShawn aka Tatum, thank you! There are friends and then there are people who act like your dreams are their dreams. Thank you for always showing your support! I don’t take that for granted. I appreciate you! My husband and editor in chief, Brian. Thank you for dotting my i’s and crossing my t’s! Clearly you paid more attention in AP English than I did! And, I love you for it! To those who have been reading and following along and showing genuine love and support, thank you! Wishing you a lovely week and a very lovely rise in the horizon of the new year! All my love. Xo
