I’ve found myself trying to sort through and settle all of my thoughts and feelings as the year dwindles down. Feelings about what’s most important to me, how I’ve done so far with accomplishing the goals I set back mid-year, motherhood, the wane of time, my relationships, my career, my health, my blog, God, and what He thinks of me. Thoughts about race, life, my purpose, introversion, and what happiness means. This has been a chore that is definitely less concrete than sorting laundry; putting things in separate piles so they don’t bleed over and wreak havoc on something else in the cycle, then neatly folding and placing it all away in its own spot until you need it again. Dealings of the heart and head space are much more complex.
I’ve also found myself readying for the holidays. I’m opting for the ambiance of a pre-lit tree this year versus a real one (mainly because I’m all for the low maintenance life right now) and I’ve already rallied Brian to haul it out of the storage room for me. Ash and I made a stop in HomeGoods Saturday, just because HomeGoods makes decorating for any holiday delightful. The store was a Christmas wonderland just as I expected it would be. I totally snagged some very pretty glasses for my table setting. We came home, snuggled on the couch, and watched How the Grinch Stole Christmas, cause ’tis the season.
There is really only one thing I have on my Christmas wish list this year and that’s a Young Frankk classic chain and square chain set. I’ve had my eye on this beautiful gold set for a while now. Just tossing that out there!
On another note, I’m currently totally in love with the work of Jade Purple Brown and the fabulousness of Nkeki Obi-Melekwe as Tina Turner on Broadway. (Go Blue Nkeki!) Actually, go ahead and add Broadway tickets to my Christmas wish list too!
Speaking of music, Anthony Brown’s latest project, Second Wind is a new music library fave. I’ve literally had it on repeat for 3 weeks strong now. Great transition into Christmas music season!
Oh and these boots! Gorg!
My goal this week, and for the rest of the year for that matter, is to make the last weeks in this decade count. Cheers to sorting through all of the thoughts and feelings and finishing strong!
How was your weekend? What are some of your plans/goals this week? (And what’s on your Christmas wish list this year?)
Have a good one! Xo
