The weekend hit different when you know you have Monday off! And I’m so glad because Ash has not been sleeping soundly these past few nights (toddler growing pains) so I would have had to consume minimum three cups of tea to even be reasonably functional if I had gone in to work today.
Instead Brian drove us to my parents’ house today. Ash, of course, slept soundly in the back seat the entire 40-minute drive there **exasperated face emoji**. At any rate I was just happy to be trading in a cup of Earl Grey for a grilled cheeseburger (and some grilled steak, collard greens, creamed corn, fried potatoes and onions, and homemade sweet potato pie…) Judge me not!
What else did I do this weekend besides find solace in its extension? Nothing. Just the usual weekend groove. laundry, a little house work, quality time with Ash, a little blog work, and church on Sunday. I’ve still found myself feeling somewhat disinterested and disengaged with social media these days but I did watch that clip of the post-match exchange between Naomi Osaka and Coco Gauff at the US Open a time or thirty (or maybe fifty, who’s counting…) on Instagram because it was just that beautiful. Why can’t all the world be like this?
Anyway, my main goal this week is to stay on the hustle for muscle. Last week I consistently pushed myself to at least do a little bit of exercise a day. This proved to be very challenging because Ash thinks it is obligatory to always interject himself into my exercise space some kind of way. Clearly he has an agenda to preserve his previous habitation (i.e. my stomach) with absolutely no renovations. But I must persist! Shout out to Cindy Whitmarsh for great work out videos! After today’s meal MeMe, get back to it.
