Yesterday we celebrated my little Noodle turning 4. Asher’s actual birthday was this past Thursday, 9/10, in which we had celebratory pizza and ice cream. Last year we spent his 3rd birthday at Disney World, and honestly, that would have been the case this year too but for COVID. So an intimate home bday party it was, and it was just as magical.
Ash pretty much gets the concepts of birthdays. In the days coming up to his birthday, he repeated that he would now be four, not three anymore, and talking about presents and “happy birthday cake” made happiness blush his face.
Because Hot Wheels has been one of his biggest obsessions, I thought it would make a good theme for his party. A small menu of cheeseburgers, hot dogs, grilled chicken, and toss salad. Plus chips, popcorn, and fruit trays of watermelon, grapes, and strawberries. A small invite of both sets of his grandparents, his aunt and uncle, a couple of his cousins, his godparents, and neighborhood playmates. The ones who ring our doorbell every other day to ask, “can Asher come outside.” Small talk between kids on a wooden play-set and adults during a game of Cornhole.
The day was much hotter than I anticipated. For days I had been reaching for sweaters and extra layers. Yesterday was back to flip flops and shorts. Michigan weather is fickle like that. But of course, I was thankful God smiled the sun down on us heavy before summer totally collapses to fall.
He is such a special little kid. I hope pieces of yesterday rest in his memory forever. Right next to watching fireworks at the Magic Kingdom.
I didn’t get as many pics as I would have liked because well, I was chest deep in trying to make my little Noodle’s Hot Wheels Birthday a success. But here are a few I was able to catch in the moments between my “partying.”
Happy 4th birthday my little sweet pea. Mommy loves you so much!
